Centerless grinding machine is an industrial metal-working tool that grinds cylindrical parts from a cylindrical Workpiece without holding them between centers or in a chuck andother work-holding fixtures, spindles, or center holes.The workpiece rests on a work-rest blade between a rotating grinding wheel and a slower regulating wheel. The regulating wheel controls the part’s rotation and feed. This gives high accuracy, good surface finish and fast cycle times for production.

Through-feed Grinding:The Workpieces is fed continuously all the way through its axis between the two wheels. It’s ideal for straight, cylindrical parts with no shoulders and offers very high production rates.

In-feed (Plunge) Grinding: The workpiece is placed on the work restand both wheels move toward each other to grind it. It’s used for parts with shoulders, tapers, flanges or formed profiles that can’t pass through the wheels.

CNC and NC Centerless grinders differ primarily in how they are controlled& programmed. Both use numerical control.
CNC Centerless grinding machine has a full computer-based programming (such as G-code or advanced GUI software), allowing complex multi-axis paths, CAD/CAM integrationthat stores programs, supports automated wheel dressing and compensation, and allows quick changeovers with high repeatability. Mainly its used for mass production of cylindrical parts.

NC (Numerical Control) Centerless grinders use basic numeric data inputs, hardwired logic, or HMI (Human Machine Interface) has moderate controls and fewer programmable functions, which makes it more affordable and well suited to stable, repetitive jobs.
